This initiative needs support if it is to be both effective and sustainable. We are grateful for the people who have already volunteered their time and skills. If you want to be a part of the Outreach Network visiting schools please contact us.

Last year, the iris project piloted Latin on the literacy curriculum in three city state schools using a course developed to support the key stage two literacy curriculum. The course was designed for large mixed-ability classes, and used activities and storytelling to deliver the Latin. From September, 20 state primary and secondary schools, 16 of which are in Hackney, are starting Latin on their curriculum. This is being taught by London university students who will be using the course piloted last year.

Funds have kindly been provided for this by Cambridge University CSCP, Friends of Classics, Oxford University and other supportive individuals. However there is a need for further monies to help cover the costs for materials and teachers for this year.

More information on the pilot last year can be found in a report by the BBC here

We are very grateful to Penguin Army, the graphics design company which has offered its services for the magazine, and to Purplefish, the web design and hosting company which runs this website.

We are also seeking support especially from organisations and individuals through the placement of advertising in the magazine or donations to the project. If you would like to help in any way then please get in touch.

With many thanks for the support already received.

You can also make a donation here using your paypal account or credit card. (Please make sure you include your contact details so that we can thank you directly)
