Urban Ancient Poetry Series

The poetry of the ancient Greeks and Romans has shaped our world in all kinds of ways that we don't even notice. From the vast and meandering epic, Homer's Odyssey, and the powerful tale of human suffering and pride that is his Iliad, to the kaleidoscopic world of Ovid's Metamorphoses and the serious and visionary Aeneid of Virgil, all of these great works have left their marks, and are full of meaning, fascination and relevance to our world today.

This September, a new initiative for adults in inner city communities is being run by Iris; evening sessions on the works of ancient Greek and Roman poets will take place across the cities of London and Oxford. Sessions are designed to be fun and accessible, and everyone is welcome. No knowledge at all of the Classics is necessary!

Sessions will be an hour long, and there will be a charge of £5 per session to cover venue costs etc.

Details of times and venues will be announced soon. If you're interested in attending, please email us.
